Strategy factors

Strategy is the determination of the basic long-term goals of an organization, the adoption of courses of action, and the allocation of resources necessary for carrying out these goals. The environment is an important determining variable for the choice of strategy. Further, the strategy may require a particular organizational structure.

The fit between the strategy and the organizational structure has crucial implications for the performance of the organization. We suggest that strategy and structure should be symbiotic; the fit is very important.
