Power distance is the extent to which the less powerful members of an organization within a country expect or accept that power is distributed unequally. Low power distance refers to an expectancy of equality; high power distance refers to an acceptance of inequality.

The level of power distance influences, for instance, the requirement for centralization. E.g., a high degree of power distance fits a high degree of centralization.
